Joined the Rat Pack

Decided that the Water Margin was not my corp so went looking elsewhere. I tried Sniggwaffe but they refused me thinking that I was an alt.

Bastards.

The Rat Pack however had a no questions asked recruitment policy so I went over and put in an application. It was accepted and found that they were a nice bunch of scallywags. I was determined to get some kills for them and like their motto ' we aim to misbehave'.

The Rat Pack was also involved in a few fair wars so it looked promising.

A week or so later, I managed to get a Malediction in Sifilar. I believe this pilot was AFK. Serves him right as I rip him a new one. I obviously pod this fool too.

Hug. I think he needed one after I jumped him in Auga. I moved here because the rats where all Angels so they would be dropping loot that I can reuse. Serpentis and Guristas et al are all useless for a rifter pilot.

Passing through some old haunts

Aubenall is a system within one jump of the notorious PF-346 gate and I was hoping to pick up stragglers here. At least I knew the system was good for ratting. Close by there were a number of pirate corps but many peeps just pass by.

Only a few in local as I ratted - all were docked. I moved around some of the neighbouring system and spotted Harum1 again. He was in a badger and from the scanner was probably mining. No way, I thought to myself. Deciding it was time to investigate - I went to the nearest belt and found him, indeed - minining. I scrambled, webbed and killed.

I asked for a ransom but was met by silence. I popped the badger in a shower of EMP rounds and Gremlin rockets. I had refitted to 125mm autocannons instead of 150mm. Not too bad as their rate of fire was quite high.

Harum1 however managed to warp his pod out as I was still trembling for the attack. What a rush. Even though I had been pirating now for a couple of months, the adrenaline rush is still same.

New Eden

I have always wanted to go to the New Eden gate. This is where our history began. So checking the map, I plotted a long journey to the centre of our known galaxy. Passed a fair few low-sec systems with pirates. I was thinking that I would be as notorious as some of these guys soon.

Arriving at New Eden I was greeted with 1000s of secured cans with markers: 'I was here ' and ' I love you' and 'Death to Amarr!' etc etc. Truly a spectacular sight. Even more so was a pilot in an ibis about 200KM away.

Hmmmmm - he was a noob but what was he doing all the way here? I greeted him in local and there was no answer. So I hit the afternburner and zipped towards him. It took a good ten minutes to close the distance but I hailed him again. Nothing.

Well, afk in low-sec? Fool.

I targetted and destroyed his Ibis and then his pod.

I love COVRYN!!

From my own ratting days, I knew that Covryn would be ideal to start my burgeoning pirate career. Covryn has a 4/10 complex and is one jump from Stacmon. Covryn itself is a 0.4 system.
Perfect.

I landed in the system and local was alive with chatter - my sec rating was not low enough to scare anyone so I found the Serpentis complex and warped to it. My heart was thumping hard as I activated the warp acceleration gate. It picked up my rifter and flung it into a deadspace complex.

Five targets appeared all scattered across the complex. Didn't seem to be working together so I took my time and scanned around. There was a Merlin close by, so I thought 'why not'? I activated the afterburner and leapt towards the Caldari frigate. A quick check on the pilot revealed that he wasn't a noob and this made it better.

I locked (concord warning me that I would get a sec hit -- YARR!) and I scrambled Sevau. I then got close and hit hi with the authocannons and rockets. He started yelling in local - that I was a pirate and should leave him alone.

He tried to fight back but his skills must be poor. The famed shields of the merlin disappeared in a flurry of fire and the EMP round ates into his armour. He tried to warp out but the disruptor kept him scrambled.

I dispatched his ship with relish. My heart was hammering so hard I almost fell off my chair.

Of course, it doesn't quite end there. I had a global flag but stayed in a safe spot as local erupted with cries of 'Pirate' and 'scum' and 'loser' and other terms. It was fun listening to them all bleat. Most docked. Some tried to come look for me.

I waited patiently, the incredible high was still there and it took my 15 minutes to calm down. Maybe that's why the criminal flag lasts just as long?

Hoping to be second lucky, I entered the serpentis complex again. Whooping with blood lust I spotted more targets and afterburner'ed to one - a relative noob in a velator. I popped it in ONE salvo.

Once again, the high was intense. Am turning into an adrenanline junkie I think and once again, local was alive with chatter. I didn't pod darkmoles but went after a tristan. However he managed to warp away before the scrambler could snag him. Cursing in frustration, I went to a safe spot and waited out the flag. However, my scanner picked up a kestrel close by. Guessing he was at the acceleration gate - I warped in. He was there and from the local chatter, they were waiting for me.

Oh yes, fight on. The kestrel hit hard with it's four rockets but the pilot was a noob with poor skills. His ship died.

And so it begins....

So it begins.....why did I want to join the Darkside? Well, I love the thrill of the hunt. I wanted people to fear me. I wanted to kill and maim and leave a trail of destruction. I wanted to beat another pilot into flaming pulp.

I undocked and flew around looking for targets but an EVE-Pirate post said that Vitrauze and the surrounding areas was a good hunting ground so I went in my trusty rifter and looked for targets. The previous week in Syndicate revealed nothing to me.

My scanner picked up a target and my heart started thumping. Narrowing the scan range down I located Krazy Kramer in a belt. A quick glance at his Bio and employment revealed he was only 14 days out of pod school. Time to send him back methinks.

I hit the warp button and I was shaking with excitement and my heart was pounding so hard I had trouble breathing. My fingers were also trembling as they were poised over the F1-F8 buttons. Popping out of warp and saw the lovely white square icon of a frigate (tristan) in the overview. I was about 12Km so I targetted him and hit the scrambler.

The ship was locked and the scrambler prevented him from flying off. Aurora quite annoying informed me that my sec rating was being reduced due to hostile action. I didn't care but hit the AB to get close enough for my autocannons to hit. My heart was beating so hard I thought it would explode and I was also very light headed. Had problem focusing but managed to see that KK was now within 7km and I hit the webber and the three autocannons and single rocket launcher. They ripped into the tristan's shields and I almost shat myself when I saw what I was doing. I was hoping that the pilot opposite me was having a worse time.

The EMP ammo ripped into its shields then into its armour. The tristan managed to reaquire me and sent out a single combat drone. I laughed as it did a tiny bit of damage while I was carving massive chunks of armour off him.

Tristan was now into hull and started to expel oxygen and fire. I pressed on and slammed more shells into it. I stared, heart hammering away like mad and saw the Tristan burst apart in slow motion. I then saw the pod in the overview. Shit!

Trembling I activate my mods but forgot to target. Shit! I was panicking but managed to re-acquire the egg. I locked on and the pod was scrambled. He was mine - I savoured the victory but this was a delicious experience. Nothing was said in local so I hit F1-F4 and destroyed the Pod. The sounds was exquisite and see the flash-frozen corpse made me grin like a mad man.

I had killed a man.

It felt good. Damn good.

I was also criminally flagged and my sec rating had dropped to -1.7, so sweet.

I checked my mail as the icon was flashing and read the concord message. Beautiful. I couldn't sit down afterward but had to quickly safe spot and leave the keyboard alone. My body was experiencing an adrenaline rush I had never felt before.

Damn, I wanted more!

Ahhh to be alive once more. Been a while.


Why have I turned pirate after almost two years of carebear activity?

Well, ever since my first kill (pre-mediated) I haven't had so much fun in EVE for a very long time.

My highlights include:

1. Scanning a ship down using the scanner. Your heart pounding as you pray he doesn't notice you in local and decide to safe spot.
2. Warping towards the belt in question after scanning down towards a 15degree slice.
3. As you approach the belt, the slightly longer lag as the client loads up 'extra' information....this being your prey, his ship and the rats he is hunting.
4. Popping out of warp and seeing that sweet square bracket in your overview.
5. Locking (always slow!) and hitting the scramble module.
6. Locked around the target and unleashing hell on him.
7. Seeing prey's shield and armour go down. Seeing him turn yellow and then red as he overcomes shock and re-acquires you.
8. Keeping an eye on local as you see prey repair like mad. Your armour, however keeps going down as does your cap.
9. Prey down to hull and you just *KNOW* you have him.
10. Pop. Lock onto pod and go back to point 5 & 6.
11. Ransom (maybe) or pop him.
12. Scoop the body up and loot and safespot.
13. Check, read and re-read kill mail.
14. Get up and wait for adrenaline rush to die.
15. Go back to 1.

Other points:

a. Too many peeps think EVE is safe in low-sec and super complacent about it. Time to show them this isn't WOW.
b. So many big mouthed players who talks lots but can't back it up. Priceless when you destroy their ship, their pod and their reputations.
c. Keeping down lag.
d. Utterly addicted to the thrill of the hunt,
e. I want to be in charge of my own destiny.
f. EVE-Online rocks.
