Away

Hi all

Just a quick update - unable to log onto to EVE as I am in Pakistan assisting the UN and Red Cross and Pakistan Government with their flood relief efforts.

More news when I get back.

We celebrate the solo kill...

Due to the holiday period, sunshine and World Cup, many corporations and organisations see a dip in numbers. In addition the emergence of StarCraft II, has seen most groups being able to cobble together small roaming gangs. However, The Bastards can and frequently operate as solo or duo gangs. I mean, why not? Nothing worse then spinning ships in your hangar and seeing an empty Corp Chat. However, it is even worse when one decides that there is nothing to do and simply disconnects from GalNet, unplugs from the pod and wanders around to seek other pleasures.

So, it is with great pleasure and some satisfaction that I can see that The Bastards frequently go out, solo and 'just do it'.

We celebrate the solo kill within the corporation with a medal - the 'Order of the Peregrine' and the reward of a T2 frigate hull of the winners choice. I have no idea why it is called the Order of the Peregrine as this award, in addition to a few others, pre-date my appointment as CEO. If some of the older hands have an idea (or anyone else for that matter) - pop a comment here for all to see.

June 2010 (June YC 112 for you RP chaps) didn't have any nominations as the corporation was involved in Alliance Tourney 8 and then Hulkageddon III.

However, the latest winner is Persephone Astrid - always a reliable fleet member, excellent support pilot and also trying on her fleet command wings. She managed to take down a crow in the much unfancied Tristan. Her account of the award was also noted down in a very well written post. I strongly recommend this post as I appear in it and yes, she's described my office accurately and makes me want to see what Incarna has to offer.

The nominations for August kill of the month is piling in however - with people trickling back into New Eden from a thousand different locations. We've had Muckalt kill a drake in his hound in one kill, Muckalt yet again destroying a hurricane in his hound and Nashh downing a hurricane in his ishkur.

Back with a small bang....

Rolling around Metropolis as pirates can either be feast or famine and last night it was a famine - with a decent sized fleet of 19 - we only caught a vexor and something else. We avoided a bait ship that was primed to cyno in seven (7) thanatos class carriers and also a few other blobs. We tracked a nice fleet of a typhoon, armageddon, tempest and three cruisers but lost track of them and lost them. We were too far out to be begin with and were chasing. Meanwhile, Nashh (who had docked up and was several jumps behind) had managed to locate a roaming gang and had engaged and then successfully disengaged as the numbers increased. We were too far to help as they were moving away from us.

Meanwhile, we were getting reports of large (+20) fleets roaming too. It was all happening, yet - strangely it wasn't happening. I had no intention of sacrificing needlessly the fleet for a 'good fight' as I am interested in ransoms and loot. However, boredom and frustration can settle in and before you know it; sensible decisions become a thing of the past. Luckily we were more disciplined than bored and got home safely.

While our (unofficial) motto is 'Overwhelming DPS then GTFO'; I do also follow another motto and that is to bring everyone (well nearly everyone) back home in one-piece.

Back from leave - wanted to post an update to this blog via my new HTC 'phone but bah - my mobile kung fu failed big time. Now where's my spaceship?
