The clock was ticking towards the New Year too. Yaaarr!!

125mm T2

Amazingly, in the hours as it marched towards the New Year there were lots of pilots still logged on. I came across a spluttering wreck near a planet and decided to investigate it. The wreck was from someone's destroyer and it appeared to be unlooted. Interesting.

Local was empty apart from me but I still exercised caution and approached the wreck, making sure that it would not blow up in my face. When the salvage bots came back; I was delighted to be able to cut out from the wreck a brace of 125mm T2 autocannons. What a find!

I quickly redocked and fitted them onto the rifter - some adjustments to the targetting but that was all ok.

Wanting to try them out I undocked and ratted for a bit - the tracking was excellent but the hitting power still not as good as the 150mm but it did mean I could use barrage projectiles. Those things are evil.

Oof came into local in a slasher and started ratting. I waited until I knew he would be engaging rats then warped into the same belt as him. The sweet sight of the small white square bracket in my overview, the sound of the targetting computer obtaining a lock - all beautiful.

The slasher disappeared under a hail of EMP and Barrage projectiles. Here's the result:

Ah well, it had to happen. Was in Gusandall when Socrates Nocht (who I took out a month ago) ambushed me alongside another pilot, 'Vak'ran'. I wanted the latter and was hunting him but it was a 2 v 1 and lots of fun. I almost took out Socrates but my rifter couldn't handle the punishment and exploded. I warped out before it went pop so the pod was on its way before they could snare it.

Father and Son.

Nearing the New Year and I had to get some kills. I undocked and went hunting once again, going through the usual routine and flying through the triangle as I usually do. I passed through Eifer three times with no luck and on the fourth circuit spotted x2 rifters.

By now - I could scan and make ready automatically but the excitement is still the same. Paqman and his partner was in belt 5 - together. Can my rifter take on two rifters? Only one way to find out. I hit the warp to zero option and composed myself. I was going to take out the oldest player first and then pop the second one. Me arriving in their midst (I hope) would scatter then and scare them.

So it was - I was locked and battered by two rifters but I prevailed. My rifter was battered but I was elated. I killed the first rifter and got the pod. I wanted the other rifter but he warped out. I did manage to get the second rifter as he had warped to the nearest celestial. I managed to grab him too; he was hanging around for some reason. I managed to get grab this second pod too.

I chatted to Paqman (the first rifter kill) and it turns out that the second rifter was piloted by his son. That is so cool, a father and son team! The father asked me if I could spare his son but he had no money. I had already killed the dad but decided to let the son go. It was the new year after all.

Shaji

I was ambushed by Shaji as I was hunting someone else. The potential victim warped out as I came in and as I aligned to warp, Shaji came screaming in. Plasma clining to his rifter as he exploded out of the warp. He targetted me in a second and put in a tight orbit. I webbed him but this time, I couldn't hit him. A bit worried; I put on both medium nosferatus on him but he kept on firing and taking my shields down. I was down to armour and still not scoring hits when I unleased my drones.

He was tanking the drones but the Hobgoblins did their job in single-minded fashion. Shaji's rifter finally went pop. He warped his pod instantly. Shaji knew what he was he doing. We ended up chatting and he had a cap booster in his meds. He boasted that he had taken out ruptures and caracal (I believe him) in this rig and was only vulnerable to drones. Thank god for drones.

Things got better!

I warped to a belt after spotting Anubis chatting in local about the rats. Fool, don't give out any intel! I warped in and landed on top of his thrasher - bumping him. It seemed to take ages to lock but once I did - he was dead. The webber ensured he stayed in place long enough for the 425mm autocannon to punch gaping holes in his destroyer.

Blood lust on the boil, I hungrily scanned and spotted a noob in a burst. I figured out that he was in belt I and warped there. Local was surprisingly quiet though there were some muttering about a pirate out hunting. The burst was on my overview and I locked him. He was far but didn't try to get away - he tried to warp and then must have panicked. His weapons were ineffectual as I webbed him. He died without a sound.

Later on in the evening, I logged back in after making a number of safespots. As soon as I came back in and warped to a belt (to rat) - I was ambushed by a rifter piloted by Cumbersnatch. I quickly webbed his quick ship and scrambled him. My NOS was on him and I decided t send out the drones and see it eat into his armour. He should have targetted the drones once he was webbed but kept on hitting me. I have to applaud his focus and tenacity....

After Cumbersnatch was dispatched - ten minutes later, I was ambushed by two rifters. A bit more challenging as they started to eat into my shields and armour. However, once I webbed one of them and sent the drones on him - his partnet panicked and warped out. Leaving a lone rifter, webbed and scrambled with a lot of hostile drones buzzing around him and sawing into his hull....

Feeling exhausted, I decided that Eifer was a good place to stay awhile....I wanted to get to -10 after all.

Eifer and new area

Reading Eve-Pirate made me want to visit Eifer and her surrounding areas as Auga was getting quite crowded. Was in the rupture that has proven to be a fine ship. A bit slow but packs a damh hard punch. I warped in and scanned local. Lots of peeps so I quickly warped to a planet, dropping a BM for the beginning of my safespot.

I almost choked on my drink as I landed on top of a bestower. Not wasting time, I hit the scrambler, webber and x2 medium NOS.

The bestower melted under the 425mm autocannons. He wasn't afk - he fought back but indy v a rupture? Nah.

Moving about in Raa

My hunting took me back to Raa - a place of many an adventure and I spied a chappie in an executioner.

Losing out in Gebuladi

Had to move between systems to see what else is around so Metropolis looked good and I jumped from Auga -> Dal and into Metropolis. The place is heavy with corps and ratters and I said to myself to hit the next ship I see.

I jump into Gebuladi and spot a RMS pilot. A quick scan reveals it to be piloting a cyclone battlecruiser. He was only 15 days old.

Deciding that one needs to risk a bit to yaarr I scanned him down to a belt and warped in. Heart thumping like mad (as per usual) I landed right on top of Dexion. Feck, the cyclone was BIG.

Not caring, I hit the scrambler and then webber.

I knew that this was going to be tough as he shields only went down by a fraction. He replied with a hail of light missiles that stripped me down to 50% armour before I even had a chance to repair. Damn.

Luckily Dexion didn't web me or scramble me or send his drones out - otherwise I would have been toast. I went down to 75% and distressingly, the cyclone was at 80% shield. Shit.

Judging that I had bitten off way more than I can chew; I warped to a safespot - my tail between my legs.
