Killed by a stabber but oh, so close...

Not satisfied with merely pod kills I wanted something meatier. Rak had returned from his trip in Placid and we decided to go hunting. Also, I decided to setup a loose group of likely minded pilots who could work together without the overhead of corp standings and alliance standings.

The grouping is called 'independence' and encapsulates what I want in EVE: freedom to go wherever, do whatever, to whomever and whenever'.

Gobbels from Rukongai was in local in Eifer ratting with a colleague. I scanned him down and jumped in; delighting in seeing them scatter as a -10 red blinkie popped into existence amongst them. With plasma trailing off me, I gunned the beautiful rifter towards Gobbels and unleashed the emp rounds from the venerable 150mm autocannons. His shields flashed a few times as he shield boosted but emp is designed to rip through shielded systems. I hit his armour and was tempted to switch to the hardy hitting fusion but it was enough. Gobbels' rifter shuddered under the impact of more autocannon shells and eventually his hull cracked open.
In the confusion, Yojik also hit him while going after me as well!

Killed the pod of Gobbels but Yojik ran.

By this time Rak was in local and we wanted more. Two rifters can do an awful lot of damage and can tackle anything up to a well tanked cruiser.

We had spotted Rai Deo from RLE in his stabber in Eifer and hunted him but he eluded us time and time again. Finally, we chased him down to Gusandall and we engaged. His stabber was webbed and scrambled and I started to smash apart his shields. Rai Deo however had a medium nos on me and soon my cap was dry - not enough to run the webber, scrambler or afterburner. Once he started to hit me with his medium autocannons, I had no juice left to power the armour repairer either.

Damn.

However, I didn't run as I knew that Rak was still okay and hitting Rai Deo as I was. His armour tank went and was in hull just as I entered hull. I started to really sweat as 1/3 of his shots hit me but when they did - more of my precious hull was being blown off the increasingly unstable frame of the rifter. Rak was doing a superb job with continuing to scramble Rai and hitting him. I knew Rai's dilemma: should he continue to fire on me and let Rak hit him or switch targets and go after Rak - even though his stabber was close to dying?

I was down to 10% hull and on fire with Rai close behind. I toyed with the idea of quickly warping out and then back in but decided without consulting Rak - that it would be unfair. I stuck it out and made sure that Rai was focusing on me. His last round smashed into the mid-section of the rifter and cut my beautiful ship in half. It soon spat out the pod, as I came out - Rai's stabber also exploded and his pod was out.

Rak tried to snag it but he instawarped out. I decided to warp out as well and just as I did - Lucius Cain came in after me and Rakanas pwned his ass.
